14th Division, which included the 7th King’s Royal Rifle Corps battalion of 41 Brigade, arrived in France in May, 1915, and in the following month moved to Ypres in Belgium. On 29th June they moved into the front line near Hooge where they remained until 8th July. Here they had to contend with a considerable amount of shell fire which caused a number of casualties in the battalion and although the Battalion Diary lists some of these, both officers and men, there is no mention of Arthur Waller who was killed in action on 4th July. |
